The first step in building the retractable charging station is to create the frame. Start by cutting a piece of wood board into a rectangular shape, approximately 16 inches by 12 inches. Drill four holes into each corner of the board, and attach the spring roller onto the board using screws. Be sure to position the spring roller at the top of the board.
Next, add the USB plug-ins onto the board. Using a cordless drill, drill holes into the board where you want the USB plug-ins to be placed. Push the USB plug-ins into the newly drilled holes and secure them into place using screws.
Using cable ties, connect the extension cord and power strip to the back of the charging station frame. Ensure that the power strip is centered at the bottom of the frame and that enough cable is left on the extension cord to pull it up and down as needed.
Now it's time to attach the cords to the spring roller. Begin by plugging in all of the USB devices into the USB plug-ins. Then, bundle the cords together and attach them to the spring roller. Finally, roll up the cords into the spring roller so that they are hidden and retractable.
The final step is to install the charging station onto your chosen location. Use screws to fix it securely onto a wall or desk space.
